It’s not every day that an individual is voted unanimously to lead a parade, let alone such a meaningful celebration in our country, and according to Irish Central, the parade’s Board of Directors was in agreement when they voted for longtime St. Mary’s parishioner Kevin J. Conway as the grand marshal of the 262nd New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade in September. Kevin and his wife, Dee, have generously given much of their time and talent to our parish over the years, and so it is not without prayers and gratitude to them as Kevin steps into this role and leads the parade down Fifth Avenue tomorrow. His platform is to raise awareness of food insecurity, much like his ancestors and scores of immigrants who came to America for a better life experienced hundreds of years ago when embarking on their journeys from Ireland. Congratulations on a well-deserved honor, Kevin! May God continue to bless you and your work to improve the lives of those experiencing hardships and most at risk.
